100 × 128 cm // 39.5 × 50.5 in
A powerful and vibrant tribute to Jerusalem, Lion of Jerusalem brings together Yuval Mahler’s signature wit, color, and layered visual storytelling. The central figure—a majestic lion rendered in cool turquoise and silver tones—stands as a symbolic guardian of the city. Surrounding it, Mahler constructs an energetic collage of abstract fragments, pop-art references, and expressive graffiti-style elements.
Jerusalem’s ancient stone architecture appears on the right, contrasted with vivid contemporary imagery and human figures, creating a dynamic dialogue between past and present. The artwork’s rhythm, bold palette, and textured mixed-media surface invite viewers to explore the emotional and spiritual layers of the city.
Mahler’s use of spray paint, print techniques, and automotive colors adds depth, sheen, and immediacy, while his playful, satirical approach remains subtly present within the dense composition.
